Verizon Innovation Learning Program: Mentor Positions Available

Program Overview

  • Mentor Description Qualifications: 1) Majoring in mathematics, computer science, engineering or business. 2) Knowledge of 3-D modeling, programming, design thinking, AR/VR technology and entrepreneurship. 3) Desire, ability and patience to work with middle-school youth in a creative environment. 4) Ability to work cooperatively with instructors and student mentors. 5) Ability to accept supervision and guidance. 6) Ability to guide youth through program activities. 7) Participation in leadership development program a plus! Preferences. Experience with at least one of the following: 1) MicroBits and Microsoft MakeCode. 2) TinkerCAD, OnShape of similar 3-D modeling software. 3) Sphero Programmable Coding Robots and Sphero App. 4) CoSpaces Responsibilities: 1) Assist with preparing workspaces for instruction. 2) Assist participants with completing daily tasks. 3) Supervise participants throughout the day. 4) Help cultivate confidence, self-esteem and a love of learning. 5) Learn new material on 3-D modeling, programming, mathematics or entrepreneurship, as needed. 6) Follow direction from instructors and program administration. 7) Prepare materials for daily instruction. 8) Maintain professional interactions with participants, parents and program staff. 9) Arrive punctually to campus each day with clean and appropriate attire. 10) Attend all training and work sessions. 11) Comply with Staff Expectations Summer Session: June 17th - July 5th Register https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSceJLaDpE6VXIp07pCjYXnrkbHCzRycEF98s9dNeIl6DI3oOQ/viewform
