Virginia-North Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation-Bridge to the Doctorate

Program Overview

  • The Virginia-North Carolina Alliance is led by the University of Virginia and funded by the National Science Foundation's LSAMP program. The VA-NC Alliance offers individually tailored recruitment, retention, and enhancement activities to support students such as bridge programs, stipends, symposia, tutoring, mentoring, workshops, and research experiences. The VA-NC Alliance's primary goal is to increase significantly the number of students earning STEM (Science, Technology, and Engineering, and Mathematics) baccalaureate degrees. Bridge to the Doctorate will start in Fall. Individuals will receive a stipend and the cost of education allowance. A three-week residential transition program and mentoring institute will be provided. Alliance students are eligible to apply for Bridge to the Doctorate (BD) programs which provide up to two years of funding for graduate school. https://lsamp.virginia.edu/graduate-school-0
